When Is It Time For Hospice

When is the right time to call for hospice?

We want to ensure that we will improve our patient’s life by managing pain and other symptoms of their illness. We also here for their family who stand as their primary caregiver by providing guidance and support in these hard times. To know when is the right time, we have listed below the symptoms for them:

• Gradual weight loss
• Low fluid and food intake
• General weakness
• Respiratory problems or dyspnea

In order to be admitted to hospice care, a physician must certify the terminal illness of the patient whether he or she has only 6 months or fewer to live. The patient can continue to receive hospice care if they have extended the 6 months time frame as long as the physician certified it. And they may discontinue it once the health of the patient improves.
